Back on April 15th:
At the dinner table tonight Ben says, "James, don't wipe that on your shirt." James indignantly replies, "I'm NOT! I'm wiping it on the CHAIR!"

A mother's work...
Usually after dinner we play wii as a family or watch a show together or play a game or whatever. The point being, we do something as a family. A few nights ago Schmoo insisted that what he wanted to do for family time was watch honey play his DS. Honey asked schmoo, "Well then what is mommy going to do?"
After thinking for a minute he replies: She can massage my shoulders while I watch you play.
Oh, he really, truly believes that the world revolves completely around him! But I guess that's what 5 year olds are made of.

We had a great Easter dinner with our friends upstairs! It was fun and delicious and anytime I can make a ducky cake is fine by me :)

I made a Hello Kitty cake for the birthday girl upstairs! It was fun to do something girly for once!

So Scmoo brought home some interesting artwork from school. I thought that is was something Halloween related, but in May? And that's a bit macabre for preschool, right? Anyway, come to find out it was for letter of the week....x for x ray and all that. I don't know what kind of a creature has bones in that configuration...and if you look carefully you will find a booger right in the middle of his forehead. BOYS are SO GROSS!

The easter parade
Heaven forbid you should mention Christmas in school, but they were all over Easter here. I don't understand that? Anyway, they had an egg hunt, Easter Party and Easter "parade" all at school. Against all the children's will, they were made to partner up and march about the school grounds :) Schmoo looked at me as he was marching by and asked me to make sure that this never happened again!

Party at Chuck E Cheese
Schmoo's wish all year long (since his 4th bday) was to have his party at Chuck E Cheese. It's nice when wishes are this simple to fulfill :)
Since he is majorly obsessed with Super Mario Bros, we made Toad Cupcakes.

Despite his wish for the party, he was very traumatized by Chuck E Cheese when he was a toddler. When I saw this look on his face, I wondered if we were headed for a meltdown...
It turns out that he really was happy, but just like my dear husband, you can't tell by the look on his face if he's happy, sad, excited, nervous or whatever.

Here is the whole group. We met right after school and it was so nice to let the kids run a muck without worrying too much about cleaning or cooking or ahem, direct supervision :)
Here's some pics of the kids that I could actually chase down with the camera.

And here's proof that intense therapy can get you over an intense fear of guys dressed up like rodents.

He had been waiting FOREVER for his shot at the "ticket blaster". They put the birthday kids in a little wind tunnel and let them try to catch tickets to trade in for prizes. It was intense!

We all had such a great time! We'd do it all again...but probably won't have the chance. Next year's birthday is slated to be a "BOYS only speed racer" party. Whatever that means :)

Schmoo turns 5!
I can't believe my little schmoo baby turned 5!
Here's his cute little face on the day he was born :)
And here are some cute awkward opening presents smiles.

So happy with the balloons!
My cute guys at Red Robin. We let the bday boy choose...at first he said Mcdonalds...but then changed his mind, thank heavens! He wouldn't eat the sundae because he won't touch whipped cream or chocolate syrup. Weird kid, I know!
Looking smug with some bday money he got in a card. He wouldn't let go it for a looonng time!

Cute look after reading a card with a surprise in it :)

Making a wish on the birthday cupcakes delivered by our upstairs friends! (so glad they brought them since he didn't eat his restaurant sundae and I didn't make a cake!)
Making sure that we know which one he wanted!
